Brake drums

Have a friend with a 95 CC and the brake linings bind with the drum at one point when rotating the wheel. Seems the drum is not quite round any more (bearings seem fine) I was thinking of having the drum skimmed and fitting oversize linings.(Would do both wheels). Anyone know what the minimum thickness is, that the drum can be skimmed too ?

had the same situation on my 2001 cc and to make along story short the problem was the brake adjustment slide. there are two metal plates in there and the one on mine was scarred and not letting the adjuster recenter the brakes in the drum after they were applied. a little sand paper and reinstall with lube and gottem to work perfectly again. hope this helps.

Many thanks will try this first. Can only assume that the warning is because the drums are so thin that resurfacing would weaken them fatally.

No resurfacing on golf cart drums to thin and just not cost effective. New ones are cheaper and round. A little scrubbing is fine while the wheel is spun.
