Just bought a 98 CC. It has some scratches and gouges in the body. I'd like to try and do the work and paint myself. Is there any special material or paint that has to be used? Dupli-Color has a 3 part system that looks like it's aimed at the home garage gearhead. Any suggestions?

No rattle cans. I have a spray gun, and I'm not afraid to use it! To me it's a toy, so if I mess it up I'll do it again until it's right. Since I am not a professional I was wondering if plastic needed any special materials or paint. The Dupli-Color paint is something I just saw in Popular Mechanics and then I found it in Autozone.

Yes there are specific coatings for plastic cart bodies, the same coatings they use on plastic bumper valances and Saturn body panels. Just go to the local Automotive Body/Paint Supply house and tell them what you want to do. They set me up with primer, flex agent, thinner, paint, etc. Total cost for materials about $130. Mine is a single stage process, no clear coat.

I would get some Napa MicroLite and rub over the entire body after you have sanded it with a medium grit paper. Just coat the entire body and sand it clean. Then do it again and re-sand it with an extremely fine grit paper. This will make sure you have covered all the scratches! A great paint job makes any imperfection show up. Remember, the prep makes the paint!!!
