Finally got my 14hp vangaurd into my ez go workhorse. Went for test drive but for some reason I have no top end speed just low end power from hell I believe it will climb a tree once i get some tires on it. Was out cruising around the other nite when something started knocking bad from the engine maybe a rod or main still don't know any one know the best place to buy a rebuild kit for a Briggs 14 hp model # 303447

are you runnin' the throttle cable through the governor? if so you may have to install a stronger spring to get more rpms. the 303447 is a 16hp.

It was turning alot of rpms probably more than it should have it has no govener so it is getting it all it seemed to blow right through the clutch if I nailed the throttle from a dead stop.

Found the problem broken rocker arm somebody tried to weld it together image that a $9 part what an idiot.Part should be here Thurs and lets see what happens then.

No doubt it could have been worse I thought I spun a bearing or something, ordered me one of those digital tachs from cartspart guys anxious to see what I am turning

Got my new rocker arm yesterday and damn it was not a match to the rockers on the motor. the new is the stock rocker shown on Briggs website. Obviously what I have is either not stock or something, The rockers I have are 2 rockers on a shaft that looks similar to a wrist pin, the stock arm is similar to a small block Chev, with a stud centered on the rocker can anyone explain what you believe I have because my local parts supplier and I are not having much luck.

I got my tiny tach today installed it and he answer to why I have broken 2 rocker arms is ... wait for it ..... 8600 rpms , me thinks I should install a governor.

can anyone tell me what the setting is for my tiny tach on a vangaurd vtwin 16hp I have it presently set at 740 degrees and it shows around 3200rpm at idle seems high to me

OH YEA its running good just having clutch problems I think , it seems to rev real high and you can also feel it shift to a higher gear but still does not seem to be high enough' thinking maybe the driven clutch is weak But it has already been on it's top in the pond out back
