I have a '98 TXT and recently it started having problems going up steep hills. From the noise and smell, it seems like the belt is slipping but how do I tell if it is the belt or the clutch?
well drive belts do wear and or become soft, installing and new belt would be the easiest thing to try. it never hurts to have a spare belt if that does not solve the problem.
