battery not keeping a charge

Ok friend has a 1998 gas ezgo. He siad that he got a new battery in april and after 18 holes his cart dies and he needs to take the battery out and hook it up to a charger for it to work again. I put it on my little battery tester and its reading good but when I check the charging system it is bad. does that just mean he got a junk battery or is it the starter/generator?

you need to check and see if its charging at all with a volt meter, most likely a bad voltage regulator.

if there runnin' it with the governor tied back it will burn them out every couple of yrs.
