Battery Charger Problem

When charging my 2002 Club Cart, 48 v, the charger used to normally shut down after a full charge, and the needle of course ended up on 0 amps. Recently, the charger started to remain on, with the needle pegged mid-way on the dial, even after 12 hours. I also notice some bubbling in my batteries.

Do I have a charger problem, or a battery problem? Thanks!

I would start with testing the batteries. One or more bad batteries can make the charger act like you describe. Make sure all your battery cables are in good shape and the connections are clean and tight. Check and add water to the batteries if needed.

If there are no battery issues, you may have a bad OBC. The main symptom is it gets down to about 5 amps and never shuts off. You can either replace the OBC or I sell a new way to eliminate the OBC forever. It is a timer circuit board that mounts to your charger.

Turns out my problem with the charger not shutting off was caused by one completely dead battery and two others half gone---all six eight volt batteries were 5 years old and have been replaced now---charger working normally. Thanks for your help!

Hey Bigdog. I was looking for the timer circuit board on your sight and could not find it. Can you post a link to it and also those tracks? Thanks in advance!
