Basic cart drag racing rules......

Most tracks don't seem to give a :censored: cause ya sign a waver. The jacket is the money. Helmet should be full face only, you can buy them cheap. Most racing jackets are more about fire and heat protection. I would look at motorcycle requirements for drag racing and kinda back peddle if ya can... Just like the bikes, you want to get away from it and carts without cages should be the same. You don't want anyone wearing a seat restraint of any kind if they don't have a sufficient cage. Been through allllllll this before. Lesson I learned, run what ya brung and make the body armor the biggest rule. Don't let anyone run next to a car or anything that weighs as much. Most important!!! Make sure to rule the industry and take all the coin you can...

We weren't so smart. Couldn't make a race without dropping a few grand between us.

Agree with DS about treating the faster carts without a cage more like a motorcycle if we are going to allow carts to go that fast without a cage. Leathers make good sense in that situation. Just not sure where the line is where such should be mandatory. Obviously the basically stock cart guys don't really need more than a helment if they are going 15 mph but once we start talking about 40 with no cage then something has to be done to protect the driver if they are going to run without a cage.

As anyone can see from my original post, my personal opinion is that the faster carts should have a cage, period. Drivers of those carts should have full face helmet, 5 point harnesses, gloves and a jacket at the minimum. I think that arm restraints need to come into the equation also. I wear them and they took a bit of getting used to but now I don't even notice they are there. I feel super safe at 80+ in my DSR chassis. Thank you Steve!!! But if it ever flipped it would be ugly if my arms weren't restrained.

I still think that the only viable way to apply rules to this situation is to form classes based on et and fit the safety rules to those classes even if all the classes run in one big bracket like we do now.

Its no real science. I have a Caddy CTS V. I been to the track with it. I ran 6:98 with my son in pass. seat. They said I couldn't have him in the car and I needed helmet under 7. Rules!!! I should have had a :censored:fit and started a thread and tried to close the track I guess, but I said no problem, thanks for the info., but I'm just a dumbphuc billhilly...

Is that how you see it Kelly ? I'm all for safety .. But safety starts with the cart. That's where we should start.. If anything we need or carts to pass tech... If your cart is not safe to start with then rest just don't matter...

Wow, I was just getting ready to post after the time change post, and looked down and bam. Ronnie, as always I appriciate your support, and value your thoughts and ideas. And for the most part I agree with the safety starting with the cart. But DS was just giving his thoughts on the subject, and thats what I asked for.

Ultimately, I will put forth rules for the races I put on, But I really would like to hear other folks opinions.

+1. This is supposed to be a rules discussion. I personally appreciate that DS would give some suggestions. Attacks are uncalled for.

OP asked for idea's. I didn't see anyone typing any so I gave it a shot. This is the same bull:censored: from you. You haven't given us a fast enough reason to roll up to the line and why would We want to spend the time and money to listen to you piss and moan in person?

WTF! I'm only saying this once. I'm not going to let this thread turn into a bash fest. OP asked for suggestions and DS gave some, good ones I might add.

Yet last year you were lookin' to buy one of His chassis, Yes!. makes Me wonder why now
