Bad Solenoid?

Just bought a non-running PDS cart that a child had just about destroyed. Put in new batteries, cables and got it running, but it is slow. Put the cart into diagnostic mode and got the 3-2 beep code that the solenoid was welded. Just put in a new solenoid and still have the same code.

Where should I look next?

Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

How slow is slow?

There's a PDS troubleshooting chart in the EZGO resource forum here. Try running the tests on the chart and see what you come up with. Make sure your brakes aren't dragging...

Slow is about 5 mph max and the brakes are not dragging. Went through the diagnostic chart and got up to sheet 6, #40. Not being familiar with the PDS model, what is the "walk away" function?

Moved on to 41 and instead of 15 volts + or - 1, I was getting 12.5 volts. So I am guessing that means I am in need of a controller.

I would say it's the controller. I was thinking that was the problem from the beginning but I hate to tell someone they need a controller if I'm not positive that's the problem...

Yes, I was afraid of that, but was hoping it was better news :(

But, I was able to find a good used one that someone had from doing an upgrade for under a $100.00

Appreciate your help and the information here is priceless.

No problem at all. Thanks for the compliment on the site. Let us know if the controller takes care of the problem...
