Hi guys, yup another noob..I have had a few older carts in the past,Harley/Grumman, But now I am the proud owner of a 93 marathon. I have cleaned all the connectors and updated the wires to 4 gauge and the cart scampers well,The problem comes under full throttle. From other posts I have seen I am guessing I need to adjust the pot. (the cart quits at full foreward but not full reverse) The question is how to check ohms and where? key on or off? Searching pot adjustment just goes page after page of adjustment posts. but the word pot does not come up (3 letters??) Is there a thread here that explians adjustment? Thanks in advance..

Welcome to the forum.

The Pot Box should have four wires, two go to the F&R switch the other two to the controller. Take the two wires off the controller and with a ohm meter you should see 0 ohms then slowly press the throttle pedal and the meter should smoothly go to 5000 ohms at full throttle. If the reading is erratic you need a new pot box. If the reading at full throttle is slightly lower or higher than 5000 ohms you may be able to adjust the pot box to the correct setting. You'll see a small bolt with a jam nut. Loosen the nut and turn the screw (very little) if the reading at full throttle is over or under 5K. You may be able to get it adjusted, if not you'll need a new pot box if you can get it to read 0-5K smoothly while slowly pressing the throttle.

Next dumb question. Why no cut out in reverse but only in a forward position??

I would start with checking the forward and reverse switch. It sounds like either a bad connection or bad contact in the switch.
