Hey All! I have just now registered on this awesome site & have been soaking up all of the great information you all are providing for the last couple of hours. Wow! Where have you all been for the last 2-3 weeks while I have been trying to research carts? This site has never popped up during my inet searches. So glad I have found all of you experts. Thanx for everything I have already learned!
If anybody(s) has advise on buying a cart- I should could use some. I bought a 2005 ST 2+2 about 6 months ago for $5000 from an EZGO dealer. It came with a lift, oversize wheels, back seat & extended canopy. I bought it as I woke up one day & said to myself- it should would be fun to be able to run my grandkiddos down for an ice cream on a Saturday afternoon in a golf cart. We love this thing! How can you live without a cart?
I'm wanting to buy another one & try pimping it out. I live in Midland TX & all I can find is 2005 PDS's with new batteries for $2700 or 2004 PDS's with 4 yr old batteries for $2195.
QUESTION: What is a good starter cart, affordable and easy to work on- remembering that I am not very mechanical? I think I can figure out how to install a lift, wheels & a back seat. Thanx in advance...

Welcome and thanks for the compliments on the forums...

As far as the golf cart shopping goes with electric carts the age and brand of the batteries is a big factor with battery prices going up. You should be fine as long as you stick with the big 3 E-Z-GO, Club Car and Yamaha. So it boils down to which cart you like and making sure it's a solid cart. One of the main things to look at is the battery racks. Make sure they're clean and not all corroded.
Do the 2 carts you looked at have any accessories like windshields rear seats?

Thanx for your response Sir. When I grow up I want to be a Cartaholic!
I am trying to stick w/ EZGO as it is the only brand I know anything about. The carts I were referring to are ones that just came back from a course. They still have sandbottles & score cards. I felt I could get a good price on them if I bought 3 - 5 at the same time. Not so much at this dealer. I emailed EZGO & asked about franchise possibilities or where to get in on a fleet purchase-no response.
Could someone advise me on a year & model of EZGO that would be best for me to learn how to deck out ie... lift kit, paint, wheels, rear seat, lights?
Thanx again HotRod for your response!

Find one you like and get started. Bolting on accessories will be about the same on all the different models.

Hey Olboy- Thanx for your response. Can I ask a really stupid question? It seems on the EZGO fleet carts, TXT, ST... that they all have riveted dash mounts. I know I will have to take off to drop body off at paint shop.
Question: How do you take rivets out? Is there a special remover so you can use the rivets again or do you yank 'em out and plan to replace?
Thanx in advance...

You have to drill the rivets out. You can purchase a complete rivet kit from any E-Z-GO dealer E-Z-GO part # 608456 TXT Body Rivet Kit...
