Alltrax DCX Interface Plug

I recently bought a basket case of a Club Car DS. I am in the process of redoing it but I have yet been able to locate a DCX interface plug so that I can plug my factory harness into the controller. Does anyone have one or could give me some advice? My cart is an 87 but has been Frankensteined. It has an mcor with the wiring. The motor on it has the speed sensor wires cut. They don’t seem to be used. It has a rocker FNR switch but no run tow. Can anyone help me out? I circled what I am looking for. Unless there’s another option.

have you checked with Alltrax
they routinely supply adapter kits
for all carts that they sell controllers for
look on the website and order one

Ya I have been on their site. They only have one for an ez go which has the big black plug. I have e mailed them on three of their contact us emails and have not gotten a reply for over a week. I really don’t want to buy a new controller just because this doesn’t have a plug. I have even thought to maybe get a wiring schematic for the controller and for my cart and just solder wires on and make my own harness. I just am kinda lost as to what schematic I look for regarding my cart as it seems like it has stuff from different carts.

That is what you are going to have to do, although I would recommend crimping the pins directly to the wires as solder joints can fail especially so with old dirty wire. I don’t believe Alltrax supports the DCX controllers anymore, a good reminder that “Made in USA” does not automatically imply quality or that the company cares about their customers. The DCX wiring and plug is the same as EZGO DCS, and your harness is from a later model iQ DS (although has clearly been hacked up and is supposed to have a tow switch among other things, you should verify the wiring). Both wiring diagrams are available on this website, also here is one from Alltrax https://alltraxinc.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Doc100-051-C_DWG-DCX-EZGO-DCS-wire-dia.pdf

Thanks man I appreciate it. I don’t have an OBC or a run tow switch. I wonder if I can just bypass those? I’m trying to just get it back running and enjoying it before I get wild and throw a navitas or something. It’s been fun redoing it and making it nice. Now I just need it to move.

you can easily do without the OBC

but i seriously recommend adding a run/tow
it is intended to disconnect the controller logic circuits as well as the power for the capacitors in the controller
not having one is asking to buy a new controller

the capacitors will spark every time you unplug the controller
or disconnect the battery pack
that spark is what will kill the controller

OBC yes, tow/run no

Well if you’re going to go to Navitas anyway hacking off the controller plug and modifying the wiring is going to be a problem. Those require the iQ harness. May as well just toss the DCX if you want to go that route.

That’s kinda where I’m at this morning. Going the navitas route what all would I need in this situation. Will I still need a run tow switch? Sorry for all the questions. I got the cart for 200.00 and wanted to do a budget build. I’m now 2k into it after the lift kit, lights, wheels, tires, new seats, back seat kit. And still obviously have more to go. I seen the Alltrax controller and figured that was worth the 200. Plus the aluminum is in good shape. Body wasn’t to terrible. But ya I just hope I didn’t make a mistake.

YES. I don’t understand what is the issue with buying a $10 switch. Some people use the key to double as the tow/run but then you reset the controller every time you turn off the golf cart and lose rollaway so not ideal.

As with many others you have discovered there is nothing “budget” about building a golf cart. If you want to save money either keep the alltrax or get a used stock controller, although either way you will need to rewire. The stock controller requires for example the speed sensor that whoever installed the alltrax, likely after consuming a few beverages, decided “I don’t need that, let’s just hack it for no reason”. People balk at the price of buying a built cart but you’re going to spend the money either way, either up front of a few hundred here and there every week.

I only see the GE regen controller versions there, I’m guessing that’s all old stock because I can’t find the iQ version anywhere
You’re absolutely correct. I reached out to ev drives and they don’t have any for the club car. I’m still waiting on Alltrax to respond. If I can’t get the part I might just suck it up and go AC conversion. I just put a lithium in it. I guess this will be my forever cart if I put this much into it haha

The motor on it has the speed sensor wires cut. They don’t seem to be used.
If the motor came with a speed sensor on it is a sepex motor. It should have the speed sensor hooked to the IQ harness and should have sepex controller. Did you ever see this cart run?
