This weekend i was driving my 97 36 volt cart that i had recently installed a new EMP motor and the cart quit running. i checked under the seet and saw that the white wire from the charger port that connected to the middle battery was burned through and the battery cabel was hot. I replced the end connector on the white wire and tigntned the nuts on the post and everything seemed fine. However, that one battery cabel still ran hot to the touch. I don't know if this problem has always been there or if it is normal. Any ideas?? Thanks for your help.

Thanks. I have ordered new 4g battery cabels. I did notice that when I got the cart that the battery cabels all seemed very long and were in some cases folded 2-3 times and held by plastic ties. The installation looked professional but I could not understand wht the cabels wewre all so much longer than required. Could these longer than required cabels also be the problem??

It's possible, the longer the cable the better the chance of heat. Make sure when you get the new cables you clean all the battery posts before installing them and then use a good terminal protectent spray to help with corrosion...

The cables you removed were generic automotive or marine battery cables. Not very conducive to this application. Yeah, they work, just not at 100%.

I would go to a dealer or on line supplier and get the correct cables for the cart. 6 gauge cables are fine for most folks, including myself.

Thanks for all the excellent advice. I hav eordered new 4g cables for the battery connections. Hopefully they will arrive very soon.

you might notice the cart runs better with new cables of the right lenth.......what would make somone use a 30 inch cable where 10 inches is long enough.......beleive it or not they will effect the running of the cart, just minor but noticeable.................................

Thanks to all for the advice. I have received the new cables and will install in the next 2 weeks when I get back to the lake house. I will post the results.
