Cart has new batteries and motor when you hit the pedal you have to give a push to get it going but then it goes well and is plenty fast.
Sounds like the cables or connections are bad they shouldn’t be getting hot. They are probably original 30 year old 6 gauge cables they’re probably rotten underneath the insulation by now. A new set of 4 gauge cables would definitely be warranted and might fix the problem. The motor draws way more amps when you try to start so the cables won’t be able to pass enough when you are trying to start and only work when it’s already moving cause the amps are way lower.one from golf cart garage yes cables get hot when you try to drive

94 EZGO 36 volt has no power on take off once you get it going it is fine.
