Cart has new batteries and motor when you hit the pedal you have to give a push to get it going but then it goes well and is plenty fast.

I am assuming you have six 6 volt batteries; is that right? From what I can see Interstate makes 8 different 6 volt batteries.

one from golf cart garage yes cables get hot when you try to drive
Sounds like the cables or connections are bad they shouldn’t be getting hot. They are probably original 30 year old 6 gauge cables they’re probably rotten underneath the insulation by now. A new set of 4 gauge cables would definitely be warranted and might fix the problem. The motor draws way more amps when you try to start so the cables won’t be able to pass enough when you are trying to start and only work when it’s already moving cause the amps are way lower.

I am having the same problem as you are, however, to get it moving I have to push it to get running. Runs great and fast. But trying to get it to move everything get hot from solenoid to controller and the motor get so hot, can't touch it.
