94 Club Car

My club car is backfiring thru the carb, also its like the govener is sticking I barely touch the gas and it takes off like a rocket, any ideas on how to resolve this?

First thing I would check is to see if the throttle lever is closing all the way.

Also make sure the throttle disk is on the throttle lever in the carburetor.

Then check to see if there is a kink in the throttle cable or governor cable.

all of this was wrong with mine.
