92 Marathon Briggs V-Twin Project

My wife bought a EZGO Marathon 4 stroke project, we recently decided to sell our 6x6s and keep our engines from them. Hers is a 23 horse vanguard with cheetah cam, arc rods, and rev kit and a 780 clutch. The golf cart she bought was already apart so that makes it somewhat easier. I just need to drop the swingarm to fab the mounting plate and give it a lift. I'm not real sure which size belt to buy, I see 45 inch on Vegas carts for other models. I found 44 7/8" online for a better price. Not sure on exhaust yet, we don't want to choke it down but don't want it real loud either. Maybe a geo metro muffler Updates will come trying to knock out two v twin swaps this month, and this is one first ever. It's getting a newer body style front nose piece as well and custom paint or wrap of some sort. And eventually stereo, cool guy shifter, lights, lights, and more lights, wind shield, roof and I'm sure some other stuff. Any tips are appreciated.

I'm hoping it goes as smooth as it looks like it should. Pennsylvania rifle season is the end of November and trying to have hers and mine done by then, well not done, but at least safe and reliable to ride.

Have a pair of these on the way, half the price of eibachs, if they're poop I won't cry too much. If I quit dragging my feet and get this swing arm dropped I can make some good progress in the next couple days.

I'm going to try the txt standard springs up front, if what I'm reading is right or if I'm understanding it right that will give me the stretch forward I want on the front axle. Undecided on modifying my stock weldment for lift or just making some spacers. The spacers would be much cheaper, but something makes me think a drop axle is a little bit better. Any opinions or experience would be great. Or us it one of those 6 one way, half a dozen the other way situations?

Early txt front springs and longer rear springs test fit. I'm liking it. Gonna build a block for the front and get the proper shocks to make it all nice. Pushed the front axle about 4+/- inches forward and about 3 inches up. When I finish the rear and do two inch or however much it ends up being stretch it should ride alright. Surprisingly the steering wheel is still almost straight.

Kenda 22x12-10 bearclaws. Wheels are neutral backspace and rub front and rear on suspension stuff. Going to try 1 inch spacers, it's not rubbing bad just enough to suck. Need to order shocks. Need to determine how much angle to put on my blocks to keep castor happy.

Picked up some stock Harley dyna mufflers, hopefully they are semi quiet. Not sure if I should use both mufflers or just a single. Hoping it makes it tollerable sound levels and not obnoxious. My Kohler ch740 through a 9 inch glass pack is just outright rude in a trailer park. Il be toning it down too but that's a different thread.

3 inches up is a bit ambitious more like 1 inch if that, it was much easier to tell after mounting the tires. The axle being forward 4 inches is pretty close I think, it's sticking out there pretty good.

Redrilled all 4 wheels. I know guys going much faster than this thing will go with alot more weight and power that do this with zero issues. I'm not worried about it, I used a jig and took my time, they all spin pretty true. Will be making mud plug/speed disc hubcaps out of either aluminum or hdpe sheet, not sure yet.

So I misplaced the cover bolts for my wife's vanguard and had to source those, bought a couple PVC couplers I'm going to use to fine tune the rear suspension height. Also finally stopped by my buddies welding shop and picked up the square tube and plate I need to finish up the front lift. 8 bucks compared to being over 30 at tractor supply or Lowes. Got the one inch spacers in. Going to be adapting a Westin wj grand Cherokee grille guard to fit, it's basically just going to hold a couple led off road lights and be an attachment point for the front rack I'm going to build. It looks like it should be pretty tough looking holding it up to the front. This Marathon body style is growing on me.

My wife didn't want any flash just good parts. Still not a bad looking engine imo.

You mentioned a newer nose piece did you have one in mind. They didn't update the Marathon and it was ended in 94 . And other EZGO models are all plastic . We're you thinking of putting a plastic front end? I would like to do something different but its gotta be metal.

I was considering a txt front piece, but the marathon front has grown in me, my wife couldn't care either way lol. But I have seen two with txt piece and both said just a little trimming on the dash and it's an easy mod.

The EZGO Medalist was the next model after the Marathon and has a metal body similar to the EZGO TXT.
