89 EZGO Removing Starter

Is there some sort of secret for removing of the starter WITHOUT removing trailing arm or engine pan on a 89 EZGO? I got the nut off but the end of the bolt that has to come out is in a hole with about 3" clearence to drive it out and I don't think it's been out before. Starter must be rebuilt / replaced as it doesn't work well.

got it off and apart , need brush plate brushes and I can get the bearings locally they are pretty much std .
brush plate had a bad stud that goes through the back plate got the insulator around the stud also . looks like it may have taken a hit from somthing .

Guess what the brush plate and the studs that go through the back plate are seperate items , got the new stud and bearings in hand will be putting it back together tomorrow , also got the starter shop to check the armature and field coils and they are fine . I think this cart is going to be a good one for my , decided not to do a frame up restoration because I would just beat it up in the woods anyway . lifting 6 inches and going to 12 inch rims going with tall tires and not so wide , a winch front and back ,, it's already a dark muddy green so am just going over it with a flat clear coat .

Question - should the starter/gen run in the vise with 12 volts applied to 1 stud on the back plate and the same side stud on the case ????? I know old farm equipment generators would turn when done this way .

To bench test the starter you need to put a jumper cable between F1 and A1.

Then jump it with 12 volts on F2 and A2.
