First let me say that I know nothing about these carts but am learning quickly. The cart I have is a 1986 has brand new batteries. When you first start out it bucks pretty badly then as you push farther down on the accelerator it seems to smooth out. The cart overall is in pretty poor shape and was provided to me by my company due to a bad ankle injury. Any idea as to what would cause this and does it hurt it to use it that way?

Sounds a little like bad battery connections or a bad cable. When you need the most power is when you start out and any bad connections show up with bucking/hesitation.

A bad solonoid will do that. Likely second one from the left side
