Hi I'm a newbie here.I have a 79 marathon with Robbins ec254ds.Had a small engine shop install new points and condenser.Ran good for a couple of hours. Now its surging trys to run then falls back.Really smoking alot like its flooding out.I have fuel coming out of the vent tube on carb.Have taken carb off and cleaned to avail. And suggestions would be helpfull.thanks rick

Double check that you have the carb good and clean. Blow it out with a compressor after you clean it. Make sure the float level is correct. The fuel pump may need to be cleaned also.

i agree with hrc sounds as though the float may be sticking letting fuel continue to flow into the bowl. take a good look at the float i have saw a hole in one before and it filled up with gas and would keep the needle valve open. check the choke make sure it is working correctly butterfly in the carb. fuel pump is also a possibility

Ok i tore carb down again soaked it crc for 24 hours cleaned it blew it out with compressor .Checked float level it was ok .Needle and seat looked good.Chock is closing against stop as it should .Cleaned fuel pump .Same results

Hey guys just wondering if i screwed up the timing when points were installed could it cause this problem.Wouldn't make any sense to me.but i'm lost

JUST WONDERING HOW DID YOU CLEAN THE FUEL PUMP ALSO CHECK THE CRANKCASE VENT POSSIBLE VALVE PROBLEM ADJUST THE VALVES AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS.I HAVE NEVER WORKED ON THIS PARTICULAR ENGINE MYSELF BUT SURE SOUNDS LIKE A FUEL PROBLEM HOW ABOUT THE PUMP DIAPHRAGM.
