49 International Upgrade

DS told me to start a thread on this truck. it's a 1949 International KB3 . Was a complete disaster so i recommended upgrading the drive train and a few mods. Started by installing a Chevrolet front end sub-member under the frame , installed a 12 bolt GM rear end, TCI 350 Hydromatic transmission, Found a 1972 4 bolt main 350cid and rebuilt it with a few street mods inside. Figured it's pushing 350 to 375 hp. Customer wanted a driver not a radical rat rod. Had the frame sand blasted and 3 coats of Frame paint. Has a power brake booster for a 40's mercury, 4 wheel disc brakes. Note the power steering gear sector is from a 1997 Toyota 4 Runner( Only thing i could find to fit out side frame rail). I will keep ya all updated as we go along. Here are some pictures so far from the work this week. I hope they up load.

Got started installing a used front clip today, spent this morning building a floor out of 14 gauge steel with access panel for master cylinder.

Well got the floor sanded and painted, Have the Lokar Shifter kit installed, neutral safety switch wired. This shifter kit was really easy and i was impressed how well it works.

Switched out old point style distributor for a HEI unit, sent some rubber and heat to the ground yesterday :naughty: , got the heater motor working  ,
going to start body assembly next week

Here is a update on the 41. Got the fenders and hood on for the body shop guys. for some reason they want the whole truck reassembled so they can see how it supposed to be. Customer decided to make it drive ready for street as is until next summer , so i am going to go ahead and finish installing wiring , gauges , lighting, exhaust, etc. Will send pics when done.

I would want the truck assembled before bodywork, can set gaps, mounting holes etc. Makes final assembly a breeze :twocents::hattip:

Yes if you start with something decent, this thing hauled cinder block all its natural life and being from the east coast it is a bit rusty. Not a straight body panel on it.
