36V problems

I have an older, 90ish,36V cart. It has been working just fine till Sat, when it didn't seem to want to go into high speed. I would take off fine and go into high speed, but seemed to slow down on any slight incline. If I toyed with the throtle it would sometimes jump into high speed, but today it will only go at the slowest speed. It acts like I'm not pressing the throtle enough even with it all the way down. There isn't any different feel to the throtle and the batteries are fully charged.
Can anyone tell me whats wrong from my poor explaination? BTW this is my first time on this board and I've already spent 2 hours on it, seems like a great site' Thanks, nat

Welcome to the forum.

We need to know what year the cart is. Does it have a electronic speed controller or resistor coils?

I don't know what year model it is, but I do know it has the coils. That is if the coils you are talking about are the ones that are under the ceramic cover. I hope that tells you guys what it is so you can tell me what is wrong. Thanks, nat

I have new batteries in it and it has been working fine it just started this staying in low speed last week. The batteries were put in new in August, and I know one or more of them could have gone bad, but the problem started last week and was intermittant for a week and now seems to be in slow speed all the time now even with the batteries fully charged. My thoughts are that the speed controller or wiper may have gone bad, but I don't know how to trouble shoot the problem and don't want to just start changing parts till it's fixed. I'd rather just change the problem part. Thanks, Nat

Post up some pics. maybe that would help us determin what you have. I'm guessing you have a ezgo with the coils between the batteries. Take the seat of adn with the key switch off, make sure the arm attached to the rod that is attached to the pedal is moving accross all of the contacts on the board.

I fixed it. it was the wiper arm not making contact at the upper end. a 3/4 wrench and 4 - 14 turns and it works like it used to. Thanks for the help, Nat
