I am generally a tight wad so these are some cheapskate questions that im trying to figure out. I want too do a 48volt conversion but i want to now if i can just add one 12volt battery and a new contact and controller and can anybody provide a wiring diagram for this and can i disconnect this battery from the pack and charge it seperately with a 12 volt charger or do i just hook my 36 volt up and hook my 12volt charger to where my 36 volt hooks up and charge it that way. This is a 93 ezgo marathon and the battiries are over 11 years old but in great shape.

With batteries that age, I would suggest (not trying to wish bad luck here) that your batteries will be due for replacement soon.
At that time I would just buy 6x8v batteries, controller and a charger and you're good to go.
If you really want to go 48v now you will need another controller and 2x6v batteries, a 12v probably won't do the job and have any run time.

I agree with Doug. If your batteries are 11 years old I would do the conversion right the first time and be done with it.

The local Sam's Club here sells Interstate golf cart batteries and I've been using them in a lot of carts with no problem.

My local Sam's Club carries the Johnson Controls/Energizer brand. I just bought 6 for less than $500.00.
