36 or 48 Volts

this should be an easy one for some of you. i have a controller thats rated for 36 - 48 volts and a 36 volt fleet speed motor. my cart is originally a 36v. can i add two more batteries to make it a 48v and still use the 36v fleet motor? will i run into any problems with the motor over amping or damaging my controller? is the speed or power increase worth the extra cost? thanks for any input
 
The stock 36 volt motor can handle the 48 volts with no problem. You should gain about 5 mph going from 36 to 48 volts.
Just make sure your controller is rated for 48 volts.
