2010 Fairplay Won't Move

Hi everyone. I'm new here and a little uncertain how I can properly diagnose what is going wrong with my 2010 Fairplay electric cart. When I press the pedal, I hear a click, but the cart will not move. Does that mean that the solenoid is ok, but I may have a problem with my controller? My controller is a Curtis 1268-5403.

Here's where the problem started. I backed it out of my garage and then used compressed air to clean out the dust/dirt from under the seat. Seemed pretty harmless to me, but it would not run afterwards. Figured maybe I had a loose or corroded wire that I may have knocked loose, but I've been unable to see anything that looks obvious to me, maybe it was just coincidence?

What's the proper way to diagnose this problem before I just start buying parts? I don't think I have anyone in the area that will work on it.

Thank you!
Mike

First check that all your cables are tight. Does the controller flash a yellow light ? One of the most common problems with a Fairplay is the Chinese wiring falls apart. Check that all the wires and cables to the motor are good and tight. They tend to break at the eyelet crimps and the insulation makes it look like they are good when they are not. Flip the tow run switch from run to tow and back to run and see if it will run.

it must be blinking 5, short pause, then 5 more.
The Curtis manual I found online says:
MAIN DROPOUT
Main contactor open.
1. Main contactor defective.

I'm not really even sure what that means, any guidance?

Can I tap into this conversation since I’m having the same problem. I have a 2009 FairPlay that I was dumb enough not to do my research knowing it was a project. Long story short I thought I could just take it to a repair shop pay whatever and be on my way. Every repair shop in the state of Utah will not work on FairPlay so I guess I’m on my own now. All aside its the sweetest looking cart I’ve ever saw just no fun not being able to drive. I have the same Curtis controller on it as you. The code is flashing five quick then four quick or vice versa. It’s the orange lights are the only one I can see. I charged the batteries to make sure first thing that was not it. When I had it plugged in it would move about two feet then stop. Same in reverse and it even acts like the battery charger isn’t charging it. What is a solution other than starting it on fire and walking away? I checked the posts where the battery connects but doesn’t seem broke. If you know of any mechanics in Utah that would work on it would you let me know or where to at least start on the process. Thanks so much

Is there any way to exclude the accelerator pedal as part of the problem? In the past there were times when I would press the pedal down too fast, and then it wouldn't go, but if I pressed more smoothly, it would drive just fine. The number on the part is 0910200191, but the rest of the text is in Chinese. I may be willing to try a new part if I knew what to buy. This is the only previous behavior that I can think of that may have factored into my current situation. I haven't found any other connections, or bad wires so far. I'm pretty lost at what to do next.

I'm having problems with my fair play as well with the 2008 I'm trying to decide if I want to try to keep fixing or just give it up at displaying a beep code I think it's five beeps and then four beeps I don't have a clue and nobody will work on it around Jackson Michigan or Ohio

Mike you have a connection problem at the solenoid, it clicks but no voltage or current to controller. To check this, put a voltmeter on the big post to that powers up the controller , Should have around 48 volts when you push down on pedal just enough to make solenoid click. Ir not the contacts are bad inside solenoid and it needs replaced, If you have voltage continue to push down on pedal and voltage should start to drop. If it doesn't PM me or call me @9702431234

I have a 2010 Fairplay in Shop that drives slowwwww. the code is 54circuit breaker open. got continuity through the breaker, got battery voltage through it as well. breaker fuse ohms out good. going to remake the red wire from fuse to battery side of breaker, but was curious if you know the readings I should get out of the speed sensor wires. cart does like 1mph. I replaced the solenoid because the top of it had a hole in it.

Ezgotech88, I have the exact same problem with my SAME year Fairplay as you posted (code 54...drives slowwwww) - I also replaced the solenoid coincidentally. Were you able to resolve your problem? If so, can you share please?

Check pin 3 for power key on. If you have power and relay clicks pin9 supplies power to pin 23. if all that works you have a bad controller. If pin 9 has no power controller bad.

Cart drives, just really slow. solenoid was cracked on top, I replaced it, tried a new speed sensor, replaced many wire ends. guessing the controller is the culprit. code 54 circuit breaker open.

If you do this test above it will confirm your code 54 is a bad controller. If not don't waste the money on a new one it won't fix your problem.
