I just bought a brand new 2009 EZGO gas golf cart. 13 hp motor. What power upgrades can I do to make it go faster? If I lock the governor completely out will it damage the motor? Also a buddy sprayed his older ezgo with a 8.5 hp motor with a 50 shot of nitrous. You think it will hurt my new one? Its a EZGO ST 2 +2

Any governor adjustments will void the warranty. Nitrous is hard on engines regardless so in my opinion it will wear the engine out much faster. :twocents:

It wouldn't be an everyday thing with the nitrous. Just a once a year thing during a special heads up race. Also the dealer turned the governor up some. I know if i remove it it will void the warranty but how far can i turn it up w/o hurting the motor? Someone told me there is another speed limiter in the gear box that would limit how fast the cart will go no matter what the governer does. Is this true? Will that performance exhaust fit my 400cc motor? Or do i have just a too new of a cart to find parts for?

If you adjust the governor yourself at all the warranty can be voided. The governor is in the rear end and then you have a rev limiter on the engine. I dont know what a safe RPM is for the new 400cc Kawasaki but with nitrous you will be hitting the rev limiter. If you unhook the rev limiter one shot may be all it takes to destroy the stock engine. If it was my cart I'd ask the dealer you bought it from if he can tweak the governor more and leave it at that. Unless you don't care about the warranty and damaging the engine. :twocents:

Im with batman. Let the dealer adjust the governor and leave it at that. If you must adjust the governor the best thing to do would be adjust it until it starts hitting the rev limiter then back it off a bit. You dont want it bouncing off the rev limiter at all.
