2007 Club Car (gas)

Hello everyone, new to the forum and possibly to carting. Looking at a 2007 club car for sale at a local golf course for $2500. I know how these carts are driven, so I'm very much concerned about the overall mechanical condition.

I've been reading through the forum for the past few hours and need some help understanding the following:

1) how to perform a compression test - I've read that both plugs need to be removed, screw in compressor testor in one of the ports, floor the accelerator pedal for a few seconds - reading should be around 120psi.
2) how to inspect for blow-by?
3) others?
4) are there any inherent issues w/ club cars of this era?
5) what is the approx. life of this style car before the motor needs rebuilt...given yearly oil changes

I've not tinkered with small engines before, so any hand-holding is apprecaited. Let me know if there is anything else I need to be concerned with. Thanks in advance.

your right on with the compression test, oil or oil staining in the air cleaner box is a good sign of blow by.
the engine will run for yrs with proper maintenance and governor settings. the fellas will be able to answer the rest

'07 CC Precedent has the 11hp Kawasaki single cylinder,DS and early Prec. are 9hp. They are pretty much bullet proof unless you raise the gov. to far, then they are grenades. If it's being purchased from a course there more than likely will be more than 1 for sale. Look and drive a few.

As long as the cart isn't smoking you should be fine.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I went out to the course this evening and spent a few hours looking around.

I did the compression test on several of the carts...each was around 150 psi (forward and reverse). I was somewhat surprised - the ones that didn't seem as solid tested the same.

Air filters were clean and each appeared to have somewhat new oil filters. The only concern was that the oil levels in the cars was well over the range indicated on the dipstick. I didn't see any evidence of leaking oil; the oil pans were dry. How much of a concern is this?

Are there any visual inspections that I need to target? The grease plugs on the front suspension appeared to be somewhat fresh (wasn't dry). Air intakes on the underbody were somewhat clean (appeared to be an intake at least).

Heading back tomorrow to take a 2nd look (come to find out, the cart that I liked the most wasn't for sale....go figure).

Any other tips are apprecaited...thank you!

Some people who golf are abusive as some who rent cars. The nice thing is they can't do much to the drive train because of the gov.
99.9% of courses are keeping their carts maintained. They don't want problems on the course and they want to get the most $ at sale.

If the course is selling then they aren't lease carts. Another reason the course will take better care.
