2004 TXT

I have a 2004 TXT 4 cycle gas that is terribly hard to start each day. The trick is to pull the choke clear out and barly push the accelerator; If you push it clear down it won't even fire. So, then it still takes a minute or so of putt........putt........putt putt......putt........putt.....to make it go. After it gets warmed up, however, it runs and starts like a champ. I researched this forum first and found the valve adjustment procedure. I adjusted the valves to .004 with no change. Then I tried .006 also with no change. This cart has also had the recall service which included a new carb if I remember right. That did not help the starting either. So please help! This cart has not started well since it was new!

Thanks!

i had 4 workhorses that had the carb and air cleaner changed due to recall on carbs, 3 out of 4 were never a problem, the one was a bear to start, i took the carb apart and did find a little debris in one of the jets, it was 4 years ago, dont remember where exacly, ezgos are cold ethels, meaning, they do not like to start when its 50 or below, they just dont wanna start, does your carb have a tuning screw, or is it factory set? is the igniter strong? nice blue spark? another idea is to take the vacuum line off the bottom of the fuel pump and blow into it, you might find that you have a little oil in the tube that doesnt let the pump do its job, also, take a compression test on the cylilnders, let me know what you come up with.

Thanks Chris, I will check those things this weekend and see what I come up with. I see the new ezgos have kawasakis. I wonder if they start any better. We played at a course last weekend that had 2008 yamahas, and the one we had fired right up and ran really well the whole time.

Thanks
