I am asking this for a buddy of mine. He has a 2004 36 volt ez go and he says that he put some new batteries in his cart and when he went to put the cables back on, the positive cable arked like there might be somthing that was drawing power. He said that there is nothing on and the cart is in the tow postion. He said that he has taking the cable off and put it back on several times and it does it every time he hooks it back up. Can somebody please tell me what might be going on here?
Thanks

He had said that it was a big spark, like when you hook up a battery backwards. Everything is hooked up correctly. He said that you can make contact with the cable and then remove it and then each time that you go back to try and connect it, the spark gets smaller. Any more ideas?

It's probably just the capacitor in the controller taking a charge. If he's sure it's wired correctly I'd hook it up but keep an eye on battery voltages for a couple days...

Hotrod, thanks for replying. Is this something that he needs to be concerned about and if so, can this be fixed?

It's probably nothing to worry about but like I said once he hooks the cables up he needs to check the battery voltages a few times the first couple of days to make sure nothing is keeping a draw on them.
