2001 Club Car Reverse Problem

I've had my 2001 Club Car for many years and I am recently having a problem in as much as sometimes it will not go in reverse. if I push just to move it will then work. What can I try before seeking a repair service?

I think that I have found the answer. I simply cleaned the contacts and since then it has been OK. Thanks for the response.
