1997 EZGO series - Battery problems

I have a 1997 EZGO. Batteries keep corroding at the post and are corroding the cable ends at the post to the point where they even will break off. Batteries are 4 years old so I am not sure if it does this when they get old or what. I have replaced cables with 4 gauge and they continue to do it. I can also hear a "hissing" sound coming from one of the batteries. Is all this connected to the same problem? Any help would be appreciated.

You may have a bad battery, or not. Check and post the individual battery voltages.
Terminal protector spray will help with your corrosion problems.

Make sure your not over filling the batteries with water. Do the top of the batteries get wet while charging them?
