1994 EZ-GO Upgrades

I have a stock 94 EZ-GO TXT DCS that me and my kids ride around the farm on dirt roads and wooded trails. I would like to do some upgrades with approx. a $1500.00 budget. I would like a 5" lift with 22" all terrain tires, should I upgrade my stock controller to a 500 amp with heavy duty F-R switch and new solenoid and if I do what gauge wires 4 or 2? I seen some one here listed the cable lengths for a fleet cart are they the same for a DCS. I can get the cables made up locally, cheaper than the 120.00 price that I have found on the internet. If I upgrade the controller do I need to upgrade the motor? is this the time to change over to 48volts or leave it 36 until the batteries die?
As you can see I have several questions please help with advice and suggestions if you can.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

If you have a 94 DCS it's a Medalist. The TXT lift will bolt on with no problems. The stock controller will work with the 22"s but you may not be happy with the torque loss. Try it with the stock controller and if you need more torque you can always upgrade later. I would do the cable upgrade with or without the controller upgrade.

On the upgrades you asked about my suggestions would be,

A drop axle or spindle lift.
22" Alltrail tires.
Alltrax DCX 400 amp with a stock motor, or DCX 500 amp controller if you
plan on upgrading the motor in the future.
4 guage cables. The cable lengths posted here will work on a DCS cart you just don't need as many cables. Change all 6 guage cable to 4 guage.
The DCS carts have a different forward and reverse switch and the stock one should be fine.
The stock solenoid will work but may get hot so you might as well get the HD solenoid, White Rodgers 586 is a good one.

Thanks for the reply Hot Rod, after checking the paper work it is actually a 95, I will probably go with the DCX 500 so if the motor ever goes out I will be able to upgrade it, the cost difference between the two is minimal. In the future when the batteries bite the bullet and I go to 48 Volts would I have to upgrade the charger as well if so I don't recall seeing an EZ-GO 48 Volt charger. Any suggestions
On the cables in your list do you know which ones I will need I would like to go ahead and get those made up and the cart is not here for me to check it.

Thanks

If you upgrade to 48 volts using six 8 volt batteries you'll need a 48 volt charger. If you use eight 6 volt batteries you can wire it so the 36 volt charger will charge six batteries and use a 12 volt charger for the other 2 batteries. I believe Gorno has his cart wired that way so he can advise you on that. E-Z-GO does make a 48 volt charger but they're pricey. Lester makes very good chargers and that's what I'd recommend if you go with a 48 volt charger.
