Was riding around the 1992 EZ-GO Electric golf cart in the yard yard when all of a sudden - the motor locked up. You can push it fine, but push on pedal and just a click. Batteries are great. Almost put me through the windshield. There was no upfront problem, been running fine. Now will not move - won't go. Any ideas?? Thanks, Rick

Welcome to the forum...

If the motor is locked up the armature probably came apart. Best bet is to pull the motor and have a look.

Thanks for the reply. I took the motor out and looked in great shape. The brushes weren't half gone. Motor was free in housing. Any other ideas? Thanks Rick

If the solenoid is clicking and the motor is not locked up then it is possibly the solenoid, controller or a bad battery connection.

When you say locked up do you mean like tires locked up and skidded to a stop? Or did it just stop working? This could be a number of things. If it just stopped working, I would check all cables, give them a twist and a tug and make sure nothing is loose. If they are all good you need to test solenoid. If it "locked up" then I would jack rear of cart up and see if tire spins or tries to spin, pull your wheels off andcheck your hubs. Check these and let us know.

Sorry, when I said "Locked Up" -- I was cruising along at a good speed, when all a sudden the back wheels slid to a stop. Push on the pedal and just a click. When pedal is pushed, you cannot move the car, but, let off the pedal and the car moves freely. I took the Motor out and it "looks" good, brushes are over half left. Nothing has been done to the cart for a while before this happened. Would love to get it going again. Any other ideas????? Thanks Rick

Well, I did it. I broke down and took it to the shop. It was the controller. They want $391 for a used controller and install. What do you think?
