I recently purchased a 1991 club car, I replaced the batteries. The cart has lots of power at the beginning but sows down to about half speed an hour later. Does the solenoid or speed controller have anything to do with this?
Sounds like you haven't got the batteries broke in yet. It could take 15 to 20 full charge cycles to get them broke in. You will notice longer run time and quicker response as they get broke in. So for the first 15 to 20 charges make sure you never run the pack down below 50% and when you put it on the charger make sure that it completes the full cycle. On new batteries the cycle can take 12 to 16 hours for a complete charge. As the batteries get broken in the charge cycle will take less time. Hope this helps.
Like Frizbgolf said the batteries will perform a little better after several charge cycles. Next time you notice the cart slowing down stop and check each battery with a digital volt meter and post your results. There's no need to unhook and cables to test the batteries individually.
