1990 Marathon Won't Start

I am trying to get my gas 2 stroke 1990 EZGO to start. I have already put a new solenoid in (old one probably still works). Charged the battery. Cleaned all the wiring connections. I have not taken the forward/reverse control apart. A used control was installed last year. This is really puzzling me. I am not a mechanic more of a tinkerer. I did jump the solenoid and it did start. Now what?

It does crank over. It also goes forward and reverse when I move the F/R controller. I think my battery must be weak. It is being charged and I will install it later today. I will post if it works or not.

If it only cranks over when you jump the solenoid there's a good chance the throttle micro switch is bad like ford mentioned. Or a problem with the solenoid activation wiring.
Let us know how it goes after the battery is charged.

If it runs when you jump the solenoid and you know the solenoid is good check the throttle micro switch and the key switch.

Cleaned throttle micro switch. Running!!!! Now it takes over a minute to get the cart to move. I think the belt is VERY loose. How tight does it need to be and how do you tighten it?

your clutch belt needs a little slack but very little. and the belt to starter gen and crank snug and u can't adjust clutch belt but starter belt get adjusted by a bracket n back side of starter to motor by the clutch drive
