1990 EZGO Pot Box Potentiometer Adjustment

I have a 1990 EZ-GO that moves but is too slow. I checked the resistance of the potentiometer and the readings are 0 ohms without accelerator depressed and 2840 with the accelerator fully depressed. Is the pot box bad or is there a way of adjusting it to increase the resistance and speed? Thanks for your assistance.

You can try to adjust it but if it won't adjust to 5k at full throttle you'll have to replace the pot box. There's a small set screw on the arm that allows you to adjust the pot box. They're touchy to adjust.

Thanks but I need to correct my earlier post. The F-N-R switch was in Reverse when I obtained the 2840 ohms at full throttle. With the F-N-R switch in Forward and the throttle fully depressed, the meter reads 7300 ohms. What does this indicate?
