1988 EZGO 2 Cycle Keeps Killing Solenoid

Hi, I just bought a 1988 EZGO 2 Cycle gas golf cart that had been sitting. I did all the maintenance to it, cleaned the carburetor, drained the gas tank etc. I got it running and took it for a drive and all seemed well until I turned it off then tried to turn it on again then it would not start and the solenoid clicks. So I ordered another solenoid off amazon, put it on and it did the exact same thing where I got to drive it about four or five times then it killed the solenoid again. I am sceptical to order another just to have it blow on me again so any feed back would be much appreciated such as a good solenoid to get or any advice on how to fix it . Thanks in advance cheers🍻

Most of the cheep solenoids on Amazon are junk and won't last very long. Golf Cart Tire Supply has a White Rodgers solenoid for the EZGO gas golf carts that should do the trick.

Hate to say it but the problem has occurred again, the solenoid is ok but it When I turn it over it spins the engine very slowly (battery fully charged) and the end of the wire coming from the solenoid to the starter generator is very hot on the starter side of the wire.
Any suggestions on what is causing this?

Ok, I’ve went through the entire system with a wiring diagram and everything on it is ok.
So how do I check if the brushes are worn on the starter? Thanks

Remove the rubber covers on the starter generator case and you can see the brushes. The ends of the brushes should be sticking out past the brush holder. If the end of the brushes are close to flush or down in the brush holder they're worn. Some brushes have a wear line indicator on them. I'm not sure this is the problem but I'm out of ideas. When you checked the wiring did you clean both ends of the ground strap from the engine to the frame?

I’ve read up on how these starter generators work and it looks to me like the brushes are Ok, I’ve included some pictures of all four let me know if they seem good to you or not as I still am just learning
