1987 club car coil

I just bought a 1987 club car and it has a hard time starting when i take the plug wire off I notice some spark down by the coil. If I place the cap just over the sparkplug it starts but if i push it on the plug it doesnt. I went on line to look for new coil but club car says no longer available. Was this a faulty part does anyone know

I think I can find one. I justed wanted to know why club car did away with this part. Was it a safety issue or a part that just kept breaking down.

no its age of cart.......they all quit making parts for them from about the 1992 year carts and older.......there are still some parts out there but they are harder to find.....................
