1982 EZGO - Was Running Fine and Just Quit - Batteries are Good

I bought a used 1982 EZGO 2 years ago that someone had converted to 3 - 12V batteries. I bought new batteries (12 V Marine Deep Cycle) last year and it has worked fine. I'm in my 70's and this is to help with work on our small farm.

Last week I was hauling light loads with it and it hesitated a couple times...I thought it needed charging so I hooked it up. After the charger said it was done (there's no meter or gauge on this '82 cart) I turned it on and put it in reverse - it very slowly crept a foot or two and stopped...I put it in Fwd and it did the same...then would only move a few inches and stop.

I checked all the battery connections and noticed one cable/post had some corrosion. I cleaned and put dielectric gel on all posts as well as wherever else the cables were connected to.

I checked for loose connections - found none.

I'm not exactly experienced with electric carts and don't understand what to do next...

Where could I look next and how would I test???

Appreciate and ideas - this is a very old and basic setup I'm sure, but still clueless!

Thank you! I did change cables and the new batteries were all tested before and after charging and running. I did find a major suspect and have ordered the part - it was the EZGO Speed Control Movable Wiper Contact Switch...got the OEM 17504-G1, 17504-G2. With an extreme bright light I watched the arm swing up with the brush while pressing the accelerator foot pedal - I could see the brush end was rough and extremely pitted. The brush end barely made contact with the first contact stud and completely missed the rest. I'm definitely starting by replacing that!!!
I'd start with load testing the batteries and check the cable connections on the forward and reverse switch.

Did find the issue...the speed brush was toast...completely worn and pitted - no longer making contact - a brush that runs across some speed control contact studs...replaced with a new one and we're running better than ever! Thanks for all who gave suggestions!
