1979 EZGO Questions

Got myself a rebuild project. It appears to be a 1979 EZGO.
I have two questions/problems..

I can not find a manual anywhere that I can beg, steal, buy or borrow, Anybody here have any ideas where I might find one?

Second problem is when I rotate the sheave for the rear end it rotates almost 2 full revolutions before it 'engages' the axles. Is this by design?

thx Scotty

Anything close, I don't know about EZGO (I'm a newbie to carts) but perhaps a year or two older or newer may have some parts/procedures that were the same.

Thx Scotty

I have. That is what led me here. I did find a site, I think it was Vintage, had a some manuals and I thought I was close, it listed 1979 GSX, I think it was a three wheeler or a work horse. Anyways, I don't mind buying a manual, but it was $59.99 and couldn't be sure it would cover my model.

You got a hint on a good place to look?

Thx Scotty

Scotty...According to the ratio..It may be possible to rotate 2 revs on the input before you see much movement...

There again..considering it is a '79...It could have a lot of backlash in the gear train...

According to the ratio?

I can't imagine how.

Unless it's a 'loss motion' to somehow allow the engine to wind up during starting.

Can someone with a 2 cycle, reversible engine, lift their seat, and tug on the sheave both ways and see what they get?

Thx Scotty

fubar....You're right about the availability of Free manuals for your cart. The cheapest I found was from Golf Car catalog for $49.95

Scotty,

Does your cart have the internal starter/generator (F&R cables go into the engine)?
If this is what you have I have an original manual that I could refer to for you!

I need to know about the rear end. So, Probably rebuild instructions.

When I turn the input shaft it rotates two turns before it begins to rotate the
axles going out to each tire. If this is normal, I don't need anything. If this
is incorrect I gotta find out how to fix it.

I really would like to purchase a manual and not pester anyone each time I need information!
So, I am still searching for a manual.
In the mean time tho, I sure would appreciate whatever you got.

Thx Scotty

I recently acquired a 1979 (three wheel). Is anyone still on this thread? I need manual if at all possible. I’ve found some portions here and there but not the whole book. The manual # is 16466G1from what I can tell. Thanks in advance.

You vintage cart guys like to spend money on old , out dated , hard to find parts carts. Wake up and put your money into something current.
