Hello to all ...... I'm new hear glad to be apart of it..
I need a little help! I have a 1995 cc w290 in now but I have a little problem > I have a 18hp vanguard correct rotation or a 20hp honda also correct rotation,or a 23hp kohler also correct rotation or a 25hp lc kawaski which do I choose? I think the 25 lc kow would be just to much work with relocating rad and putting electric fan ect.....
What do you all think about my choices. oh forgot to mention all have less than 20hrs on them & all free. what do I do

18 hp vangard, 20 hp honda, 23 hp kohler, 25 hp kawasaki

It depends on what you want to do. Do you want to show off and pull wheelies? The 18hp is plenty for the cart but it will barely pull the wheels and hardly leave a black mark. But won't let you down on a hill climb. It is awesome. I had one in a Yamaha. 5 more hp to the 23HP kohler is what I would go to. Just to have some show off power. And since you got them free, you could send me the 18hp for the cost of shipping.

When you speak of Walkntall's engines, you got to remember 1 thing. He has more $$$$ rapped up in that engine than the cart its self. It cost some serious bucks to build up an engine. If you took the 18hp Vanguard and put a rev kit in it and other mods, you will have a lot of $$$ in it and only be getting 23-25 hp out of it. That is why I said to go for the kohler.. No money in it and more HP to start with. To tell you the truth, I wouldn't worry about hopping it up yet. Once you feel what 23hp can do, I think you will be quite impressed. Just don't expect high speeds! 4000 rpms in a stock cart is about the same speed as 4000rpms in a big block. You just get there instantly! You may want to play with clutches and gears for more speed. But I tell you this.... once past 35mph, it gets hard to handle not enless you have a long travel kit.

Ok then if I put in 23 kol will I pull wheels ? also dependable , I think It will cause motor is ingood shap . should I mess with gov to achive a little more rpm or not? if so how far should I take it I think it is set for 4000 to4500 or so not sure have to look. Then next question Im going to use a 780 driver but what do I do with driven use mine as is (15/16 inch widebelt)with780 or have mine machined and spring put in or get another clutch?I was reading last night somewhere they were talking about using a e z go driven on a club ( my shaft size is 7/8 with 3/16 key) and that ez go driven clutches work good though gears is that true? let me know cause I just may have mine done not sure yet.

23hp should pull the wheels. My 18hp Vanguard did. It just had a comet clutch with stock driven. I only pulled 3" wheelies. 4000-4500rpms would be just perfect I would say on max rpms. As far as clutches go....... I have no clue on what to tell you. I only had one and it was in it when I got it.
