01 series CC motor

i have a 01 series cc, motor making a scrubbing noise. In forward and reverse. Sounds like brakes scrubbing. runs fine. I pulled brake drums, its not the brakes. Any ideas

Is there anyway for you to (at an idle) try and see if the noise seems to be coming more from the top end (possibly pushrods/rocker arms/lifters) or the bottom end? (crank/cam/bearings)

Also, is it totally constant sound, or does it change speed, volume, tone? If it changes, would you say it is more closely related to the speed of the motor (RPM) or the speed of the buggy?

It is a 48V elec. not gas.

If you have confirmed it is not brakes, I would pull the motor and inspect/change the bearings and brushes.

Yeah, I thought about that. The sound is toward the rear od the motor not where it attaches to trans. Thanks to all of you.
